Liberians strived and strived to build a vibrant democratic society in which all persons regardless of creed, religion, or tribal origin are equal before the laws of the land. Despite the unquenchable desire to build a better nation, there are huge challenges that confront the state of Liberia.
One of the challenges is the lack of adequate education and training to facilitate the understanding of the civic responsibilities of the citizens to build a society free from intimidation and fears.
As studies put it, the worst of the challenges is the total lack of voters education and training of most of the country’s population to understand their civil duties and responsibilities as citizens and the natural ownership of the Republic of Liberia (RL).
Modern studies had proven that in countries in which there are no interests for widespread or massive voters education programs and civil responsibilities’ education and training programs, those countries that lack substantial national development plans or agendas, there is no sign of national infrastructure development and growth.
Subsequently, these kinds of unchecked practices result in products of bad governance, unattainable democracy, and national failures and chaos.
Emanating from the foregoing, the founders and architects of “Your Vote Your Right” (YOVOYORI) have studied and devoted times and resources to tackle voters education and civil duties /responsibilities’ training in Liberia, throughout the length and breadth of the country.
The promotion of voters education, civil duties/responsibilities in Liberia will be carried out through various means such as workshops, symposia, mass meetings or rallies, radio and TV commercials or programs, streets canvasing, printed materials distribution, etc.
The founders of “Your Vote Your Rights” believe that the culture of positivity and national hopefulness for infrastructure development, societal and economic growth, and realistic participatory democracy can be truly realized if voters education, civil duties / responsibilities programs are well implemented or carried out in Liberia.
The founders greatly trust that the program of activities of “Your Vote Your Rights” in Liberia will be financially supported and sustained by individual Liberians of the Liberian Diaspora, community groupings, organizations, friends of Liberia, donor institutions, religious institutions within the United States, from other friendly countries around the world and ordinary Liberians in Liberia and local non-profit organizations on the ground within Liberia.
The overall goal of this is to maintain the culture of a democratic society in which the accomplishment of education, training and knowledge will be the yardstick for national achievements, developments and growth as expressed in an atmosphere of national peaceful co-existence as a nation and people with enriched culture and diversity.
Let it remain to be that love of Liberty brought us together as Liberians.
